An Evening of Improvisational Percussion
Tuesday, July 08, 2025
07:30 PM - 09:00 PM
Visible Records Gallery
1740 Broadway Street, Charlottesville, VA, USA
The Charlottesville Jazz Society and WTJU are pleased to present a unique evening of percussion at Visible Records on Tuesday July 8th at 7:30 pm. For the past several years, Visible Records, a gallery space at 1740 Broadway Street, has been home to improvisational and experimental music across all genres.
Although Tim Daisy and Scott Clark are in the process of recording an album together, this will be their first concert as a duo.
Tim Daisy is a Chicago-based drummer, composer, and educator renowned for his contributions to both improvised and composed music. Since landing in Chicago in 1997, he has actively engaged with the city’s vibrant creative music scene, performing, recording, and touring with numerous esteemed musicians and ensembles. Beyond performance and recording, Daisy has composed original pieces for modern dance, sound installations, documentary films, and podcasts, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
Drummer and composer Scott Clark is at the center of the Richmond VA improvised music scene, and is making a name for himself through his “striking musical maturity, evident in his patience and precision.” He has curated dozens of concerts that match local musicians on bills with internationally recognized touring artists, and is co-curator of music for Out Of Your Head Records.
Clark’s work is focused on the arc of composition through improvisation and sonic story-telling. His exceptional playing and compositional method can be heard on his widely-acclaimed releases, the solo drum album This Darkness (2021) and his ScottClark4tet albums ToNow (2018) and Bury My Heart (2016) on Clean Feed Records.
Tickets to see this one of a kind performance by two masters of percussion are available in advance at CJS.Ticketbud.com.
